Sweet Memories

I'm sure most of them will agree that the best days of our life is our school days. If there was a choice we would be happy to get back to the good old days. But there is no rewind button in life which is the sad part.

Its been 10 yrs now that i have been out of school. UUuuhhhh 10 yrs, just cant believe it. For me my school days are really special may be because I spent 13 yrs in the same school(Bethesda School) with almost same people, same friends. After school, some of us were in touch and some lost. Life is all about loosing touch with old people and meeting new people and if we are lucky enough then we manage to still keep in touch with some of them. On the last day of our school, we laughed, cried, took snaps, took autographs, promised to keep in touch, planned to meet up every month or once in two months. Once out of school, as days passed, slowly the promise we made was forgotten and so were the plans we did. Days just flew off, college life went so fast and now going on with my professional life. And today most of them are into some field or the other, doctor, lawyer, engineer, hr, travels and so on and ofcourse some are married too.

I used to go to school even after finishing my school life, but very rarely. This year one of my cousin was graduating from the same school, so I went to attend her graduation function. Everything almost seemed like a replay, few years back I was there standing with my classmates on the stage, with a lit candle in my hand. I still have that candle with me and I have not lit it after that day. Most of the teachers are changed, very few whom I know. My kannada teacher seeing me asked ‘Are you remembering your graduation day’, I don’t know why my eyes were filled when she asked that and I said Yes Ma'am and that moment I realized its been 10 years and these 10 years went so fast and I still feel I’m out of school just now. That’s when I thought we school friends should have a gettogether, let me plan up for the same.

Well, but after that weekend, back with work, gettogether plan took a backseat. After few days my good old school friend gave me a call and as we spoke, she told lets have a gettogether, same thing was going on in her mind too. Finally, I decided yes we have to have one and let me plan for the same. After that my first priority was to get all my school friends together in one place. So the planning began. First thing was to contact everyone, but I had very few contacts. So started collecting contact numbers of whosoever possible and starting making a call. The plan was to meet on a weekend after a month either go out on a short trip or atleast meet up for lunch. Some of them I was speaking after years and they were surprised to hear me and also happy with the plan. Finally everyone agreed with the plan and next was where to meet up and where to go. I had decided no matter where we go that day, but meeting place will be our school.

As days passed, plans of going to any place kept changing, first Nandi Hills, then a Resort, then Wonderla and again back to Resort. But the meeting place was fixed to be the School. Finally 2 days prior to meeting, some of them said they cannot make it for the day due to various reasons, I was really hurt, felt bad, but could not do anything about it. I made up my mind no matter what, even if one person comes also fine, we have to meet. Finally it was decided to meet near school, then go for lunch and then to one of my friend’s place.

Finally the day came, I wasn’t sure finally how many will turn up. One by one started coming near the school, some of them were there before me and I was very happy to see them. Most of them I saw after years, and some I had met very rarely in a function and that would be any of our school friend’s marriage. Everyone assembled in front of school, I was happy to see most of them turning up and some of them who said can’t make it also came. Then it was time for Girl’s Day Out.

One of my friend booked seats for lunch in one of the hotel near infantry road. We all left to have lunch there. Finally we reached the hotel, and the best part was my friend forgot that she had booked in a hotel and took us to another one and realised it later. So made a call, cancelled the booking and headed inside the hotel to have lunch. Then started girls talk which went on non-stop and yes inbetween had lunch too. After lunch, headed to one of my friend’s place. I saw her mom, granny after 10 years. Her mom was still the same, very friendly and a great cook. We all sat, relaxed, talked and talked, pulled each other’s leg, talked of everything possible whether it makes sense or not. Meantime Aunt used to send snacks to eat for us one after the other. Very soon the day was ending, how time flew, never realized it. I didn’t want the day to end, but I couldn’t hold on the time. Finally everyone decided to leave, but before that came another plan, yes that was for the next gettogether. We decided very soon we will meet up again and moved our way back to home.

Now again when we’ll meet, will everyone make it or not, no one knows, but those sweet memories will always be there to cherish with us and I’m sure there will be more to come.

Today, I want to thank all my friends (from all aspects of life) for being part of such sweet memories because without you it would never be sweet and never would l be able to treasure it throughout my life. Thank You Friends.
